I joke about the comparison of doing custom coin bras and having children. They both often involve blood, sweat, tears and some cursing. But I can almost consider them "my kids" as a lot goes into creating them!
I make Tribal and Tribal Fusion coin bras and each and every one is unique. I do all cup sizes from A's up to DD's and because I worked in the lingerie industry for over 10 years, I know how a bra should fit.
I believe that the base of the bra is extremely important and the support should not have to be sacrificed in order to get a spectacular coin bra! (Hell, if you are adding a few extra pounds of coins on to the “girls” already, don’t you think you should give them a little help keeping everything up?? Heehee ;)
All of my bras are made from underwired, black bras. I remove the sides and straps and then replace them with a cotton twill strap. All my bras are made with halter style straps, with approximately 30"-36" length on the straps. (If this is too long, you can always shorten them. Better too long than too short, I say ;) The sides are "built up" so you still get really good support, without too much spillage. (If you don't know what I mean by "spillage" then you are probably not a full figured gal!)
Just so you know . . . I do not line the inside cups of my bras. This is totally a personal choice as I find that the one bra that I did line slid around on top of my choli. I ended up taking out the lining and find that this works much better in regards to preventing slippage. (Slippage . . spillage . . . if something is always either spilling over or sliding downwards . . . welcome to middle age darling! LOL)
But . . . I digress . . .
I also feel that if the new owner of the bra wants to either add something else, or remove something then it is easier to do any small changes without having a lining to deal with. Are the inner cups pretty? Not a chance, but I find it works best for me. If you are planning on wearing the bra without a choli beneath, then you'll just have to see if the knots cause any discomfort. I've never had any complaints re not lining the cups, but again, that will be a personal choice.
You can see what bras are currently available for sale in the photo gallery under "Looking for homes". Please visit my eBay store for pricing, look for the link here in the main menu.
If you've read all the way down here, then you are probably a "fellow tribal gal".
Happy dancing, girl, happy dancing, and I hope you like my designs!!
